For the steppe, spring is the most picture-postcard period with tulips blooming and this variegated patch work carpet ranging along the ground beyond the horizon. The air is filled with aromas of flowers, the first diffident grass, and awaking earth. Kazakhstan is thought to be the motherland of tulips, since it was the foothills of the Tien Shan where these fragrant flowers first appeared, according to biologists.
